Art in games : Cyberpunk and Steampunk

Cyberpunk and Steampunk:
Cyberpunk is a postmodern science fiction genre noted for its focus on "high tech and low life”. Some real life places have been described as cyberpunk, such as Japan, the Sony Center in the Potsdamer Platz public square of Berlin, Germany, Cyber port in Hong Kong, and Shanghai. Several subcultures have been inspired by cyberpunk fiction. These include the Cyberdelic counter culture of the late 80s and early 90s. An art movement that Cyberpunk can be linked to is Pop art, because pop art has lots of different bright neon colours. An artist this can link to is Andy Warhol, Andy Warhol was an American artist who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity culture and advertisement that flourished by the 1960’s.
Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery, especially in a setting inspired by industrialized Western civilization during the 19th century, or a post apocalyptic environment. This style is linked to the art movement Art deco. Art deco is an influential visual arts design style which first appeared in France during the 1920s, flourished internationally during the 30s and 40s, then waned in the post-World War II era. An example of an artist is Paul Roget.
